ABOUT
Margaret Nolan is an established Galway based artist. Originally from Dublin, she studied Art at the College of Marketing and Design (Dublin). She has also graduated in Fine Art, Painting and Print at GMIT (Galway).
Margaret has had numerous solo exhibitions and collaborative shows throughout Ireland. As Galway City Council’s Artist in Residence for many years, she produced numerous well known murals which have left their mark on Galway’s urban landscape.

Margaret has been seen on the streets of Galway, painting electrical boxes, commissioned by Galway City Council and Galway Tidy Towns, with the theme of ‘Galway Life ‘. Her work has captured the extraordinary in the ordinary of urban life. Margaret has taken well known landmarks, such as the Spanish Arch, Tigh Neachtains and The Docks, which allows the viewer to see these landmarks in a new light.
Margaret has also been actively engaged with educational workshops. She is well known as a street artist and has been a leading curator of Street Art in Galway City for many years . Margaret is the leading Curator for the Galway Cartoon Festival, now in its 5th year.and she is also the curator of two visual art spaces in the City, The Town Hall Theatre and The Black Gate Culture Centre.
As a Visual Artist, Margaret is interested in many themes, recently centred on Irish landmarks, Well Known locals and street life. Margaret uses multiple mediums, trademark brush strokes, and colour to create her distinctive images.
